TERMS OF POSITION: Temporary Full-Time (12 months)

Position: Registered Dietitian/Support Services Manager

Responsible to: Facility Administrator

As a member of the management team, the Support Services Manager is accountable for all aspects of the day-to-day delivery of Food, Housekeeping and Laundry services in accordance with established regulations and corporate standards and expectations.

The Support Services Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and directing the operation of the Dietary and Environmental Services Departments and provides a comprehensive clinical nutritional care service to the residents of the nursing home. Additionally, the successful candidate will coordinate staff education for Nursing Home employees.

Location: Sussex, New Brunswick

Expected Start Date: July 15th, 2024.

Responsibilities

  1. Administrative Duties
  2. Plans, organizes, and directs all facets of the Dietary and Environmental Services Departments including supervision of staff, budget expenditure and control, staff scheduling, ordering supplies and equipment, staff evaluation, meal tickets, etc.
  3. Develops and implements departmental work schedules, policies, and procedures.
  4. Coordinates food service, meals, and menus with the Sussex Health Center Food Service Manager.
  5. Ensures compliance with Public Health Inspections and Nursing Home Services Standards and Policies.
  6. Performs and maintains departmental audits and reports.
  7. Coordinates catering for special events.
  8. Manages and operates the clinical nutritional care service to the Nursing Home, including the development of philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, nutritional care plans, and maintaining related records.
  9. Participates in in-services for staff and residents through educational programs.
  10. Manages resident regular and special menus.
  11. Communicates with residents, families, team members and other departments.
  12. Participates in meetings such as multidisciplinary team and quality program, by providing information and ensuring follow-up of recommendations.
  13. Assessment and Documentation
  14. Assesses, evaluates, and implements nutritional care for residents as prescribed by the physician, and recording same.
  15. Maintains relevant statistics as required.
  16. Education Coordination
  17. Coordinates Food Safety Training and special educational events for staff.
  18. Arranges logistics for on-site in-services - speakers, meeting room, advertising, etc.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in nutrition and successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program.
  2. Active membership with New Brunswick Association of Dietitians.
  3. Minimum two years experience preferred.
  4. Managerial experience is considered an asset.

  2. Understanding of infection control protocol.
  3. Demonstrates a high degree of professional initiative and sound knowledge of food service principles and practices.
  4. Demonstrates effective planning, time management and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and effectively with other team members and health professionals.
  6. Ability to operate related kitchen, housekeeping & laundry equipment.
  7. Excellent written and oral English skills.
  8. Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  9. Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  10. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with employees, residents, families, and all departments in the nursing home.
  11. Demonstrates the ability to supervise, direct and lead.
  12. Demonstrates the ability to organize, prepare, deliver, and coordinate education workshops, in-services, and seminars.

13. Related duties as requested by the Administrator.
