PeoplePlus Consulting Limited, an innovative and dynamic company with over 30 years of experience providing job search assistance to residents of Halifax Regional Municipality, is currently seeking to fill the contract position of Career Development Practitioner (Contract Case Manager) at the Job Junction – Nova Scotia Works (Halifax) location, until December 31, 2024.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Working cohesively within a team of employment/career professionals, the candidate will be responsible for delivering both in-house and outreach services to our clients and community partners. The ideal candidate will be highly dynamic, organized and detail oriented, with outstanding people skills. Position Details

Work with clients to take charge of their own career development by assisting them in identifying and accessing resources, planning, and managing their career-life goals. Establish work, learning, and/or life balance goals; and provide a foundation for ongoing progress. Apply a variety of formal and informal assessment tools and techniques such as standardized and non-standardized instruments, and interviews.

The Case Manager/Career Development Practitioner:

· Carries out in-depth assessments with clients to obtain their employment and educational history, identify their barriers / strengths and needs and works with the client to develop an appropriate plan of action.

· Supports the clients as they work through the activities and goals associated with the return-to-work action plan.

· Determines client eligibility for services, funded and unfunded, making recommendations of funding sources, and liaising with these resources to determine outcomes.

· Refers to other resources (both in-house and in the community) when appropriate and follows up on client progress.

· Documents relevant and pertinent information on the client information system in a factual, objective, and non-judgmental manner.

· Responsible for the safety, security, and confidentiality of sensitive client information.

· Maintains follow-up contact with the client offering guidance and support.

· Gathers and disseminates relevant career and employment information to clients.

· Update materials and stay current with employment trends, economic climate, and current employment opportunities by conducting research and networking.

· Conducts group workshops and information sessions, as needed.

· Collaborate with co-workers to effectively meet organizational service standards.

Job Requirements

· University degree or combination of training and experience in the fields of Employment, Human Services, Human Sciences or Human Resources

· Experience delivering services and support in a client-centered work environment

· Proven ability to work directly with clients, assess client needs and skill levels, and address client concerns in a professional manner

· Effective communicator with the ability to support, motivate and build a trusting rapport with clients

· Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high standard of service delivery

· Ability to research and provide current relevant labour market information

· Empathetic and patient listener; able to deliver services in a professional and ethical manner

· Efficient time management skills, able to demonstrate sound judgment, and be flexible and adaptable to a dynamic work environment

· Proficient computer skills particularly in MS Word, Internet, PowerPoint, Email, with a reliable typing speed and accuracy

· Excellent grasp of the English Language (both written and verbal) with an ability to maintain focus and pay extremely close attention to detail. Preference will be given to candidates fluent (both written and verbal) in French, Arabic, or another language.

· Related experience in the field of career development would be an asset.

· Previous training or experience in a counselling role would be an asset

Conditions of Employment

· Centre’s’ core hours 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday

· Flexible schedule: including a weekly work for home day if needed

· Start date will be as soon as possible

· Salary range: $ 44,000 - $ 46,000 annually (pro-rated for the contract term)
