Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

As part of the Facilities Management Team, the Material Control Assistant will:

  • Be responsible for planning, scheduling, directing, and performing all duties applicable to shipping/receiving and inventory control.
  • Perform general duties associated with transporting and moving furniture, equipment and supplies; budget management as it relates to supplies, and general maintenance of mechanical systems and components related to the position.
  • Provide functional guidance to maintenance staff performing shipping and receiving duties.
  • Conduct daily pickups and delivery of supplies, mail, and bank deposits using the company vehicle are also a requirement.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) or willingness to obtain a high school diploma or GED within probationary period.
  • In addition, you possess a valid, Class 4, NS Driver's License and a Forklift Operators Certificate. Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset, as would Standard first aid and CPR.
  • You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in warehouse / inventory control. With specific experience in custodial, maintenance, food prep, landscape, warehouse-inventory control, security.
  • Occupational experience that includes purchasing, tracking inventories, shipping/ receiving would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail
  • Experience using an inventory database such as Megamation would be considered an asset.
  • You have demonstrated experience providing general maintenance duties general and/or preventative and/or scheduled service

  • A valid, Class 4, NS Driver's License is a bona fide relevant occupational requirement for this position.
