Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the position of T&D Operations Engineer.

T&D Operations Engineer

Reporting to the Superintendent of Operations Support, the T&D Operations Engineer is responsible for development and management of all T&D standards and specifications. Standards accountabilities include transmission, overhead and underground distribution, and joint use. Specifications accountabilities include transmission and distribution equipment and material, as well as requirements forecasting.

The T&D Operations Engineer is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Manage existing transmission, distribution, and joint-use standards.
  • Develop new or modified standards for new construction styles, material, equipment, and other requirements.
  • Develop and maintain transmission and distribution material specifications.
  • Chair the Maritime Electric T&D standards committee.
  • Participate in external, standards-related working groups and committees.
  • Support standards and material specifications-related analyses and investigations.
  • Evaluate new and alternative materials and equipment.
  • Provide education and training to internal personnel on standards and material and equipment specifications.
  • Liaise with T&D Operations personnel on standards, materials, and equipment issues.
  • Forecast material and equipment requirements, including conductor, poles, insulators, transformers, underground cable, and underground equipment.
  • Provide technical support to the T&D Operations department and field staff as required.

The successful candidate is required to have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline; required to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the province or working towards the professional designation; and have education and training in line design and engineering standards calculations with software such as PLS-CADD. The successful candidate will have experience in the electrical utility industry in standard, operations, or engineering areas; developing design and construction standards; and experience developing material specifications.

This term position offers a competitive and comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The range of salary would be: $75,000 - $95,000 per annum.
