Kraken is seeking an experience Senior Project Manager to join our team. The primary purpose of the Senior Project Management role is to develop and maintain customer satisfaction and deliver quality products to meet the triple constraints of project management: budget, schedule, and scope. This position, reporting to the Head of PMO, will lead, manage, coordinate, and report on multiple projects by assembling, and guiding a cross functional project teams.

The ideal candidate can adapt quickly to business needs, is able to work in a fast-paced environment, is deadline driven, team focused, and is interested in contributing to the direction of future Kraken Project Management Office (PMO) and products. This position can be located at the company's office in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland or Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following;

  • Maintain a "safety first" culture ensuring all activities executed are in a safe and effective manner in compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
  • Full owner of the project life cycle: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitor, Control, and Closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project plans according to the PMO phase process.
  • Develop, execute, monitor, and control detailed project schedules.
  • Develop, execute, monitor, control and adhere to project budget.
  • Provide detailed budget analysis and forecast reports associated with key customer accounts.
  • Execute and monitor project scope as per the Engineering Management Office (EMO) gate review process.
  • Management of project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain a communication plan with project stakeholders.
  • Lead and motivate the project team (Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, HSE, etc.) through the project life cycle for a successful project execution.
  • Ensure that appropriate project risk assessments are in place to identify project risks and mitigation plans that will be monitored and tracked via risk register as required.
  • Capture lessons learned on projects and ensure appropriate actions are in place taken.
  • Generate client invoices and ensure they are submitted as per the client's contract.
  • Continually monitor the projects' performance throughout the project lifestyle and report status of ongoing projects to Senior Management.
  • Contribute to PMO process improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor Junior Project Managers &/or Project Managers.
  • Assist in building business/project opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Engineering or strong technical background.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Manager role.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a project driven by requirements.
  • Project Management Certification would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Naval / Defense industry would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the engineering and manufacturing industry would be considered an asset.
  • Technical background in a relevant discipline, with knowledge of Kraken products and services.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to foster constructive and effective interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demand.
  • Demonstrated results leading activities in support of project management, supply chain management, contract management, ERP system reporting, contract management, operations experience.
