Lead Floorman

Stena Drilling is delighted to be commencing operations offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada for an anticipated six (6) month drilling campaign onboard the Stena DrillMAX Drillship.

There are currently temporary opportunities for 4 Lead Floormen, working on a 28/28 on/off rotation.

Work Location: Onboard the Stena DrillMAX Drillship, offshore NL. Please note there is a possibility that successful candidates will be required to join the drillship overseas at an international location prior to mobilizing to NL.

Wage: $51.41 CAD per hour

Job Duties:

  • Supervise Floorman in identifying jobs which may require a Risk Assessment.
  • Participate along with Supervisor in Risk Assessments.
  • Inform the Driller, Assistant Driller, Derrickman, Junior Driller regarding unusual/unsafe situations within their area of work.
  • If there is 2 Lead Floorman per crew, each Floorman will be required to take the position of "4th Floorman" on a rota basis.
  • The duties of the Lead Floorman" will also include:
  • Be available on the Drill Floor, making sure that there will always be experienced Floorman available for operations.
  • Assist in the training of Roustabouts, not jeopardising the operation in hand.
  • Participate as a member of the Risk Assessment Team.
  • That the standard of housekeeping in the working areas is of the highest standard to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Attend a brief daily meeting with the Master/OIM and, where applicable, the Safety Officer.
  • Attend the Rig Weekly General Safety Meeting and make a brief presentation on a relevant subject.
  • Report to Driller as per Organogram and assist in day to day operations as required.
  • Relieve for meal and coffee breaks.
  • Carry out work on the drill floor as required.
  • Perform basic maintenance work on the drilling equipment and on the drill floor.
  • Carry out work in the Shaker Room and basic maintenance of all equipment used for mechanical cleaning of mud.
  • Perform daily cleaning and clearing up on the drill floor and in the shale Shaker Room, etc.
  • Maintain a good working environment within their working area.
  • Carry out daily inspections of the derrick/setback area/DHT structure.
  • Lubricate drilling equipment as instructed by Supervisor.
  • Take and record mud weights and viscosity whilst working in the shale shakers, reporting to the driller any anomalies.
  • Comply with Permit to Work System.
  • Any other duties as required by the Assistant Diller.

Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Suitable experience as a Lead Floorman offshore
  • Previous experience on similar units
  • 4 years previous relative experience
  • Canadian BST/R
