Who we are

We invite you to join the Kings Landing team! Kings Landing needs exceptional individuals to bring history to life. The museum, which first opened to the public in 1970, is well-known and admired as a unique destination due to its' thought-provoking, educational, and engaging living history programs and exhibits. The site is open from June to October for the main season and year-round for special events. It is located along the Saint John River, 35 kilometers from Fredericton, New Brunswick. The 300-acre iconic living history museum is home to nearly 90,000 artifacts as well as many significant historical buildings. We are operating an authentic living history museum that attracts, engages, enriches, and educates the people of New Brunswick. Kings Landing is focused on providing visitors with an interactive 19th century experience.

As we prepare for the exciting celebration of our upcoming 50th anniversary, Kings Landing is searching for Prep Workers, Prep Cooks and Restaurant Cooks to join our passionate team of dedicated employees. If you can provide guest-centered service that is second to none, and contribute to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere at Kings Landing then we want you to join our team.

What you will do

Reporting to the Visitor Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that guests are given proper attention during their visit to the Kings Head Inn and Axe & Plough Cafe. You will guide guests to their table, provide menu boards, answer visitors' questions, take the guests' order, and communicate the order to the kitchen . The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting and serving customers
  • Providing detailed information on menu options
  • Serving food and beverages to customers
  • Preparing bills and processing payments
  • Other duties within the Food Services department as required
  • Attending required training
  • Working closely and cooperatively with other staff

Work Environment

  • Stationed at Kings Landing Axe & Plough Cafe or The Kings Head Inn
  • Working shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Dressing in period appropriate costume/uniform during working shift

You are organized and enjoy a challenge. You can work at a fast-paced environment. You also possess strong interpersonal communication skills and are self-motivated.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Food Services experience
  • Able to communicate effectively with guests
  • Able to work cooperatively with others
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • New Brunswick Responsible Beverage certification
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Spoken competence in English and French is required

Nice to have

  • Attentiveness and patience for customers
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Active listening and effective communication skills
  • Food Safe Certification

Wage

Wage: $20.67 per hour to $25.44 per hour
Student wage: $14.75 per hour to $17.79 per hour
