What you will do

Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Contamination Prevention and Management Section, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • providing technical guidance on the maintenance of, and emergency responses related to, the Department-owned water distribution systems and fuel systems;
  • providing guidance in the field for various contamination or spill events;
  • conducting environmental audits, data entry and review;
  • technical report writing;
  • collecting water and/or soil samples; and
  • providing various sampling and water/fuel system maintenance training to DTI staff.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Open office layout.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday ¿ Friday.
  • We promote a scent-reduced environment.
  • Travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

Engineering and Field Level V:

  • Diploma from a two (2) year Environmental Technology, Chemical Technology or Civil Engineering Technology program.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related work experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset:

  • experience with potable water distribution system and/or fuel system and/or contaminated site management.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935.00 to $2,434.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
