Jump Recruitment Specialists have partnered with North Sun Energy in their search for a full-time permanent, Director of Development.

WHO THEY ARE:

North Sun Energy is a strategic partnership between North Atlantic and Suncor for the operation and growth of the retail networks in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island (PEI), and Newfoundland and Labrador through the North Atlantic and Petro-Canada brands.

THE ROLE:

As the Director of Development, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth initiatives of our organization. You will be responsible for identifying and executing opportunities for expansion of our retail presence, partnership development, and revenue generation. Your expertise in market analysis, strategic planning, and relationship management will be crucial in achieving our growth objectives and optimizing the performance of our retail locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop retail development strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s overall objectives and growth targets.
  • Identify and evaluate potential new retail locations, quick service restaurants, carwashes and other revenue generating streams through market research, demographic analysis, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Lead the process of acquiring new properties or disposing of existing ones. This involves conducting market research, negotiating deals, and managing due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess feasibility, negotiate lease agreements, and oversee the development process from site selection to store opening.
  • Analyze retail performance metrics and market trends to identify opportunities for optimization and expansion.
  • Develop and manage the retail development budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies and maximizing return on investment.
  • Establish strong relationships with landlords, developers, quick service restaurant franchisors, and other external partners to facilitate successful retail development projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in retail development to inform strategic decision-making and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with growth initiatives and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards
  • Lead the development of proposals, pitches, and presentations for new business opportunities. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure proposals are comprehensive
  • Negotiating terms, contracts, and agreements with prospective vendors, landlords or partners. Working to close deals and secure new business opportunities for the organization.
  • Monitoring the progress of new business development initiatives and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success. Providing regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of new business efforts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, commerce, marketing, or real estate. Equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Proven track record of success in retail development, including experience in site selection, lease negotiation, and store design
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, and performance indicators to drive strategic decision-making
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to present ideas, deliver presentations and build positive relationships throughout all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and retail development software platforms.

TRAVEL:

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Flexibility in schedule is required, with the ability to travel within the Atlantic region as necessary
  • 50% travel throughout your territory is required
  • Company vehicle will be provided
