Halifax Water is inviting applications for one (1) Term full-time Process TechnicianFloat (approximately 3-6 months) in the Operations department. Halifax Water believes a diverse workforce positively contributes to its success, and the success of our community.

Responsibilities

The Process Technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of Halifax Water wastewater treatment facilities, biosolids handling facilities, leachate treatment facilities, and associated infrastructure. As a member of a treatment facility team, assists in ensuring compliance with Federal/Provincial regulations and public/staff health and safety. The successful incumbent will administratively report to the Herring Cove Wastewater Treatment Supervisor but will be required to work at any of Halifax Water's Wastewater Facilities on an as needed basis. Working hours will be based on the schedule of the assigned Wastewater Treatment Facility, shift work shall be required.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications include a two (2) year community college technical program, applicable to wastewater treatment or related discipline.

An equivalent combination of industry recognized wastewater treatment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or instrumentation training and experience may be considered.

The successful incumbent must successfully complete the Operator-in-Training wastewater certificate within six months of date of hire and pass the Level 1 Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour (NSEL) Wastewater Treatment examination within 12 months of the date of hire.

The successful incumbent must also have a valid NS Driver's license.
