About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to perform Diagnostic Radiographic procedures in accordance with accepted radiology standards and the policies and procedures of Labrador-Grenfell Health. This position will report to the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist IV.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved course in Radiological Technology;
" Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT);
" Experience in general radiology techniques in an accredited hospital;
" Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, hazards, and techniques of the Radiology Department, skill in the use of all radiology equipment and in the performance of required examinations;
" CPR certification;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Performs radiographic procedures including general radiology, and other specialized procedures as required;
" Working with a Provincial PACS Imaging system, quality controls all of the images in each exam done by the incumbent and verifies all patient demographics are correct before verifying every exam and the images to the Provincial PACS Long and Short term storage;
" Participates in the departmental Quality initiatives program and assists in the preparation of audits;
" Responsible for restocking linens and ensuring exam room is ready for next patient;
" Assumes responsibility for the safety of patients during examinations and procedures;
" Responsible for reporting all equipment faults found to the Lead Technologist IV or designate;
" Protects the confidentiality of patient information;
" Follows infection control guidelines when x-raying infectious patients;
" Participates in the continuing education programs provided by Labrador Grenfell Health, and keeps abreast of technological changes;
" Interacts effectively with the general public, clients, and all other staff on a daily basis;
" Checks quality and safety by auditing number of repeats - QA testing, Radiologist feedback, technique charts, and peer evaluation;
" Provides routine maintenance on departmental equipment;
" Performs clerical work related to diagnostic procedures;
" Other duties as required.
Salary:
" LX - 27 of the NAPE-LX salary scales, $31.53 to $39.41 per hour.
Hours of Work:
" Monday to Friday, 70 hours bi-weekly (on call required).
