We have an opening for an experienced Architectural Technologist/Technician to join our growing team in Dartmouth, NS or St. John's, NL. As a critical part of our Architecture team, you as an Architectural Technologist/Technician will contribute to our design work on commercial/industrial construction projects throughout Atlantic Canada. To fit in our unique team you will need a couple of key traits. You must be driven by a passion for creating equally practical and appealing designs. You must have extensive expertise in AutoCAD and Revit. You must have communication skills allowing you to clearly and effectively communicate with project stakeholders. You must understand what it takes to design a commercial construction project with a diverse group of other industry professionals who also love to achieve great things. Lastly, you must be willing to work in a team who are passionate about what they do and enjoy having fun through collaboration, self-improvement and empathy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Producing technical design and contract documents in compliance with Owner's Statement of Requirements;
  • Work with other team members to validate that designs and deliverables conform to technical guidelines, code requirements, and regulations;
  • Coordinating with other project sub-consultants;
  • Provide technical design solutions for building construction including interior and exterior assemblies;
  • Production of construction drawings from design development through to IFC documents;
  • Preparation of specification documents including Master Specification and Performance Specifications;
  • Organize and maintain project files, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence;
  • Complete periodic site visits throughout the region to collect existing built information or verify compliance with design documents;
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, specifications, and meeting minutes;
  • Perform contract administration through the use of web-based construction management software;
  • Attend and/or facilitate project meetings;
  • Communicate with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and the public in a professional manner;
  • Foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focus; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • More than 5 of experience within the construction industry as an Architectural Technologist in an architectural design role;
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc) is required. Familiarity with other design tools such as SketchUp would be beneficial;
  • A university degree or diploma in architectural and building technology;
  • Experience in commercial construction and building systems is required;
  • Knowledge of structural systems, building codes, and construction methods;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
  • Effective collaboration and facilitation skills;
  • Experience in using cloud-based construction management software and other technology tools is beneficial;
  • Experience in Word, Excel, and/or Google Docs is essential;
  • An outgoing personality that seeks to develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders in the construction process.
