The City of Saint John is accepting resumes for Playground (Sunshine) Program Supervisor for our 9–week summer program (beginning June 19th, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am–4:30 pm). Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Program & Community Development Coordinator and Playground (Sunshine) Program Coordinators.

The Playground (Sunshine) Program Supervisor interacts and keeps all children engaged and learning new skills each day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct a wide variety of games, activities, arts, and crafts designed to provide a diversified recreational experience for school aged children of all abilities and ages.

• Guide, help and encourage the active participation of all children in all activities.

• Supervise and ensure the safety of all participants during program hours.

• Ensure the proper use and maintenance of all program equipment (sports, crafts, and electronics).

• Provide routine first aid in the case of minor injuries, write accident reports on all injuries; file minor reports and provide more serious reports to the Sunshine Program Coordinators.

• Daily safety checks to ensure that the surroundings are safe, clean, and free from any hazards (i.e., broken equipment, glass, etc.) in the morning and before you leave your designated program location.

• Follow designated working hours as indicated, come to work ready to work.

• Your primary responsibility, is to provide a fun, exciting and meaningful summer experience for our program participants .

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children. First Aid and CPR certifications are considered an asset. The incumbents will be required to obtain a vulnerable sector check.
