Job Title: MRO Buyer (12 Month Contract)

Meridia has partnered with High Liner Foods in search of an MRO Buyer to join their team on a 12-month contract in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

Role Description

As an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring uninterrupted plant maintenance operations by efficiently sourcing and acquiring goods and services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing materials and services, assessing quality and price for comparable items to ensure optimal value for the organization.
  • Negotiating cost, freight, stock levels, and delivery schedules with suppliers to obtain the best possible terms for the organization.
  • Establishing and negotiating vendor off-site inventory agreements, where applicable.
  • Performing purchase order and purchase requisition closing, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Ensuring Bill of Materials (BOM) are established for all assets to facilitate effective procurement processes.
  • Maintaining CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), purchase order systems, plant asset systems, and MRO inventory stock levels to accurately reflect plant conditions and asset information.
  • Upkeeping the daily maintenance check book to ensure accuracy and produce weekly purchasing reports, directed by maintenance manager, including budget status and expenditure analysis.
  • Working closely with accounting to monitor and report open purchase orders.
  • Maintaining an annual "Capital Project Purchasing" file and assist in implementing an investment recovery system for surplus equipment or materials.
  • Providing guidance and support to stock room clerks.
  • Making travel arrangements for maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Overseeing the daily purchasing of all supplies and ensuring parts storage and inventory areas operate to high standards of safety, efficiency, and housekeeping.
  • Developing process workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Your Qualifications include:

  • High School Education is required; post secondary education is an asset.
  • MRO or purchasing experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required for travel to other sites.
  • Ability to obtain or have a valid passport for travel, if necessary.
