The Office of the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate is seeking to fill a permanent position of Triage Officer in the Fredericton Office. The Triage Officer is the first point of contact for people interacting with the Office of the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate by phone, by e-mail or in person.
The Office of the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate, in accordance with the Child, Youth and Senior Advocate Act, ensures that children, youth and seniors' rights and interests are protected in government policy, programs and services. This is done by the following means: conducting independent and confidential examination of complaints regarding access to appropriate services; monitoring laws and policies to make sure they are fair and properly followed; investigating situations; and reporting on the availability, effectiveness, responsiveness, and relevance of government services in New Brunswick.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Director of Individual Case Advocacy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing receptionist duties (answering and redirecting calls appropriately)
- Monitoring voicemails and transferring the messages
- Monitoring e-mails from the general e-mail account and redirecting them
- Greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate office/boardroom
- Preparing correspondence
- Entering and updating information in the Case Management System (CMS) and,
- Performing general administrative support duties including receiving, sorting, distributing and preparing outgoing mail and courier packages, ordering office supplies, maintaining office equipment (photocopier, printer, fax machine), printing, copying and faxing documents and filing (including sending and retrieving files from Record Management).
Essential Qualifications
- Bilingual ¿ English/French (spoken and written)
- Communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally in both official languages
- High school diploma or GED and two years of work experience

Salary
Pay Band 2: $49,244 to $68,744 annually
Steps within the pay band to be determined on education and experience.
