Registered Nurse IIC - Long Term Care
Casual Travel Locum Premium Assignment
(3 Positions)
Location: Happy Valley Goose Bay

The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to residents of the Labrador Health Centre Long-Term Care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
is required;
Breastfeeding education/course;
Current experience in Long-Term Care of 1 -2 years considered an asset.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
In collaboration and consultation with the Resident Care Manager plans and organizes resident care;
Facilitates, organizes assists to lead variety of initiatives;
Monitors and measures quality improvement initiative;
Provides day-to-day direction to LPNs and PCAs including daily resident assignments;
Acts as a Lead for the clinical long- term care programs;
Functions as a liaison to other health care providers, internally and externally;
Maintains ongoing communication with families regarding resident care;
Participates in quality improvement activities as required;
Participates in committees as required;
Completes Occurrence investigations as per set protocols;
Monitors and evaluates staff performance;
Submits reports to the Resident Care Manager as indicated;
Other duties as assigned;

Salary:

NS - 32 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $43.72 - $54.16 per hour with a premium locum rate of an additional $25/hr. for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) continuous days for this benefit to apply. Other applicable benefits will be paid in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.
