Nurse Collegian I, II & III
Long Term Care - (2 Positions)
Temporary Call-In
Location: Forteau, NL

The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to patients and/or residents as outlined by the Nurse Collegian competency list according to their year of completion. The Nurse Collegian is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the Labrador-Grenfell Health Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

" Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development;
" Successful completion of the first year (Nurse Collegian I), second year (Nurse Collegian II) or third year (Nurse Collegian III) of a recognized nursing program;
" Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills;
" Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or willingness to complete in time specified by employer;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;

Duties and Responsibilities (dependent on area of work, include but not limited to):

" Accountable for all assigned aspects of care for assigned clients;
" Accepts responsibility for own actions and working within scope of practice;
" Informs appropriate personnel regarding level of preparation and ability to perform nursing actions;
" Assesses clients and communicates the assessment in an orderly and timely manner to appropriate persons;
" Recognizes the psychosocial and spiritual needs of the client;
" Attends change of shift report to receive/clarify assignment;
" In collaboration with registered nurses, assists in the formulation of a nursing care plan;
" Performs other related duties as required;

Salary:

" CG-24, $22.41 to $24.69 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance;

Hours of Work:

" Variable shifts; Variable Hours;
