Position Title: Quality Supervisor

Summary: This position has a primary role in the maintenance of product quality standards and laboratory systems to meet company standards and customer expectations. The Quality Supervisor leads the activities of workers engaged in analyzing finished potato products. They participate in the continuous improvement process, providing expertise in improvements that may impact or affect Food Safety and Quality.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation of the lab and employees
  • Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and employee involvement.
  • Provide the quality team with proper training and tools to perform their work efficiently and accurately.
  • Responsible for mentoring of direct reports
  • Manage and drive performance against the company's food safety and quality objectives by communicating these objectives to the lab technicians, standardizing product grading and providing feedback to production and sanitation on food safety and quality issues.
  • Governance of Sensory (Grading/Cuttings) Development and Execution of the Site Program.
  • Coordinate and oversee QA Lab Tech Gage R & R's and Analytical Calibration Testing.
  • Finished goods must be subjected to a positive release system
  • Coordinate and participate in Management Sensory
  • Review Segregations and perform dispositions
  • Release products in WMS and perform versions when requested/ required
  • Provide support and be able to help maintain and manage McCain Coaldale quality control system.
  • Investigate customer complaint data and product review.
  • Perform HACCP validations
  • Intelex Management – FM, Self-Inspection, CAPA and Incident Management Module
  • Other job duties as assigned
  • Process Control
  • Document and communicate test results and findings effectively and follow-up to facilitate adequate actions to address quality/cost issues.
  • Responsible for coordinating periodic weigh scale calibration by third-party and complete scale calibrations to meet audit requirements.
  • Responsible for CCP validation and verification

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or business administration
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Microbiology Experience an asset
  • Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) experience an asset
  • Champion of Change
  • Able to coach, mentor, and develop team members
