As the Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst, you will provide highly skilled geomatics expertise and experience. You are an essential part of the team; leading and overseeing a host of technical projects related to the support, operation, and evolution of GIS technology within Build Nova Scotia, including hardware, software, and data maintenance.
· Develop and maintain relational spatial databases, and perform related analytical functions
· Employ GIS technologies, analytical tools and methodologies
· Data collection, conversion, and manipulation
· Developing and maintaining GIS application/system development
· Training staff and development of technical documentation
The successful candidate would ideally have the following educations/professional experience levels:
· University degree (B.A, B.Sc) in Geomatics, Geography or environmental sciences
· Graduation from an approved GIS technical school plus minimum 3 years relevant experience
You must also be proficient in the following in a GIS environment:
· ArcGIS Pro v. 2.4 or greater
· ArcGIS Online & Portal Enterprise - Sharing content online
· Microsoft Office 365 - Excel, Word, OneNote, Access, Outlook
· Relational databases & related documentation
· Knowledge with conversion of datums and projections
· Project Management Skills & knowledge
Additional Considerations
· ArcGIS for Server and corporate databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
· Various programming languages (Python, Java, etc.)
· Effective interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, and strong verbal/written communication skills
· Ability to work collectively in a team environment and independently
· Attention to detail and time management skills
· Knowledge of Nova Scotia Road Network, Property records database and Nova Scotia Geospatial Infrastructure
