FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Computer Science as a separate discipline started at UNB in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1968. The first Master of Science in Computer Science was awarded in 1970. The Department became a School within the Faculty of Engineering in 1972 and was made a faculty in 1990. The faculty has the oldest and the largest co-op program at UNB giving students the opportunity to gain real world experience in addition to pursuing academic excellence.

Salary Range: $22.68 - $26.32 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Faculty Admin Offer, the International Student Liaison is responsible for group information sessions to help students manage the transition to life in Canada and at UNB, offering personalized group sessions on relevant immigration and tax applications, programs and policies, cultural and event facilitation, mentorship and advocacy where appropriate.

  • Advise international students on social, cultural, and financial matters; conduct personal needs assessments, identify priorities and refer international students for psychological, academic, medical or legal counseling as necessary.
  • Work with campus partners to develop and effective pre-arrival communication strategy and ensure that appropriate and timely information, resources, and assistance is provided to incoming international students.
  • Responsible for communicating to international students and campus partners via social media platforms and weekly international student newsletter.
  • Coordinate the International Student Welcome and Orientation Programs in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
  • Develop and implement workshops on topics that have a cultural component and may be potential barriers to
  • International Student's integration and student success in Canada.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post- secondary in a related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience would be considered.
  • Three years of related experience including experience in international education programming and student advising, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
