JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time

SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

As part of Vitalité Health Network's Patient Safety Department, the incumbent is primarily responsible for coordinating and promoting the patient safety activities for the zone, and then the learning client program(s) with which the advisor is functionally associated. The advisor works closely with all levels of the organization to promote a coordinated and continuous approach to patient safety activities in order to reduce Vitalité Health Network's exposure to risks that could adversely affect the safety of patients, staff, and the public. The advisor is responsible for coordinating the follow-up of incidents reported, supporting managers in their follow-up, and performing incident trend analyses and risk analyses. The advisor coordinates the follow-up of claims and serves as liaison between the organization and the insurer for all matters of a litigious nature related to incidents. The advisor acts as a consultant for specific situations, to reduce the risks for the organization, in addition to performing all other duties assigned to this position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a health discipline or any other equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Specific training in risk management or willingness to take a risk management course in the two years following hire (optional for a temporary position);
  • Minimum of five years' experience working in a hospital setting;
  • Management experience would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of the legal field/legislation considered an asset;
  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Good analytical/problem-solving skills;
  • Judgment, tact and discretion;
  • Good skills in all aspects of communication (reading, writing, speaking);
  • Proficiency with computer tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Meditech, iReport, etc.);
  • Written and spoken knowledge of English and French is required;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
