The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to join the Finance and Services Branch as a Budget and Accounting Manager working in the Fredericton.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance & Services Branch, the successful candidate will oversee the accounting function of the department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Year-end financial reporting, reconciliation of accounts, ensuring year end entries are completed.
- Oversee budget reporting, quarterly monitoring, and projections.
- Supervision of the budget and accounting team.
- Financial monitoring and reporting.
- Respond to inquiries for financial information from various parties such as Finance, OAG, Stats Canada etc.
- Oversee the Public Accounts process including analysis and reporting.
- Collecting information on taxable benefits to be shared with CRA.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have:
- University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting and a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA). Candidates who are currently enrolled or willing to enroll in the CPA program will also be considered. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in financial environment, including accounting and accounting systems. A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience is required. We recognize that candidates bring a combination of experience therefore we are open to reviewing equivalent combinations of education and professional experience that would be appropriate for this role.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Pay Band 5: $ 62,452 - $ 87,230 annually.
Work environment:
- Office location: Place 2000, 250 King Street, Fredericton.
- Office layout: closed in office.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
