As an Environmental Risk Assessor, you will work in collaboration with the Risk Assessment Team . The successful candidate must have some experience in the preparation of Phase One and Phase Two environmental site assessments and significant knowledge with the Ontario risk assessment process (O. Reg. 153/04), as well as soil vapour intrusion assessments.

Travel may be occasionally be required between offices in Southwestern Ontario for team and client meetings. It will be necessary to work with staff at different offices and in different service lines, so it is important that the Risk Assessor be able to communicate effectively and maintain a positive and cooperative environment.

Reporting to the Senior Risk Assessor, this candidate will support a wide variety of projects. More specifically, you will:

Your Contribution

  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety policies;
  • Prepare / Lead the development of HHRAs and ERAs in accordance with federal and provincial guidance.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight support in environmental consulting or regulatory environment with a focus on site investigation/remediation, applied toxicology, and/or ecological risk assessment.
  • Review and interpret environmental and toxicological studies and reports.
  • Prepare written documents such as letters, memoranda, proposals, workplans and investigative reports.
  • Support remedial strategy development for contaminated sites, including evaluating environmental sensitivities and mitigation/restoration techniques for remedial actions.

Your Profile

  • Degree in toxicology, biology, chemistry, environmental science, or similar field
  • 3-10 years of related risk assessment experience
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change as a Qualified Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) per Section 6 of O. Reg. 153/04
  • Significant excellent computer application and spreadsheet skill
  • Experience with exposure and risk modelling for both federal and Ontario-based HHERAs
  • Working experience of the various types of risk assessments (i.e., DDRAs, Tier 2, Tier 3, New science, federal risk assessments)
  • Familiarity with Federal (CCME, FCSAP) and Ontario Environmental Regulation, and Risk Assessment models
  • Experience with water quality issues and soil/sediment contamination concerns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical report writing skills
  • Working knowledge of statistics, knowledge of and experience with industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office) and knowledge of ProUCL would be an asset

Qualifications:
