Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to patients and residents. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing safe, competent and ethical nursing care while working within their scope. The LPN is responsible to maintain professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LG Model of Nursing Clinical Care.

Qualifications:

" Graduation from a Practical Nursing program approved by Labrador Grenfell Zone
" Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR)
" Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
" Completion of other skills and post basic competencies as required.
" Successful completion of Breastfeeding Essentials or willingness to complete (within time frame designated by employer);
" Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse for patients where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
" Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
" Health Assessment and Medication administration courses required;
" Demonstrated proficiency in Wound Care Management and Medication Administration including IM, IV and subcutaneous injections.
" A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
" A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

" Completes nursing assessment consistent with scope of practice;
" Participates in the development, revision, implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans;
" Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care and make decisions within the LPN scope of practice;
" Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient plan of care;
" Practice independently according to professional and organizational standards;
" Documents according to professional and organizational standards;
" Maintain competency and update knowledge by availing of educational opportunities;
" Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities;
" Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team;
" Keep current with changes by monitoring communications (i.e. verbal, e-mail, communication book, etc.);
" Assists with continuing care (Homecare), Ambulatory Care clinic, and public health programs when required;
" Assesses and follows clients under the tenants of the BETTER program;
" Completes post discharge calls;
" Completes home visits when required;
" Acts as a preceptor for students and other staff when required;
" Assist in the lifestyle clinic;
" Provides personal client care as required and within scope of practice;
" Other related duties as travel may be required, may be required to work alone

Salary:

" NAPE HS Salary Scales dependent on position and location, plus applicable Labrador Allowance

" Signing Bonuses up to $16,000
