The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking individuals to create an inventory for existing and future casual snow fighter opportunities in the Highway Maintenance Crews within the Saint John District during winter operations. The Saint John District includes divisions in Havelock, Sussex, Kierstead Mountain, Springfield/Norton, Upham, Loch Lomond, Moss Glen, Woodman's Point, Musquash, Chamcook, Grand Manan, Deer Island, Campobello, St. George, Rollingdam and St. Stephen.
As a member of the winter maintenance crew, the successful candidates will be assigned to winter operations (November to April) and will be responsible to operate and maintain a one-person plow and will also perform other related winter tasks per procedures set by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of grade ten (10) and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid New Brunswick Class 3 driver's license with endorsement for air brakes is also required.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATION: Preference may be given to candidates that are One-Person Plow certified. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualification in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
The following operational requirements are also required: working on weekends, shift work and/or variable hours.
Appointment to these positions will be restricted to local area residents.

SALARY: $20.30 per hour bi-weekly, based on a 40-hour work week.
