Utility Worker I (Housekeeper)
Temporary Call in
Location: St. Anthony

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services and/or designate, the primary purpose of this position is to maintain clean, sanitary, and safe environments in all facilities or accommodation areas operated (or rented) by Labrador Grenfell Health. Position is to perform a variety of housekeeping tasks to facilitate a safe, clean, and sterile environment at the Labrador- Grenfell Health Facilities.

Qualifications:
" Graduation from High School or equivalent.
" Experience in janitorial work is an asset.
" Knowledge of the chemicals, cleaning practices, equipment and supplies used in the process is an asset.
" An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
" Willingness to enroll in and complete the basic course in environmental services and infection control.
" Ability to work effectively with co-workers and other departments.
" Initiative to meet the goals & objectives of the department using methods and products approved by the department under minimal supervision.
" Be in a state of health which allows effective performance of all duties within the job description.
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Maintains the grounds and premises in summer and winter (i.e. mows grass, trims hedges, sweeps and cleans walkways and curbs; shovels snow, operates snow blower, spreads salt and sand to control ice).
" Collect garbage.
" Cleans interior of facilities and buildings (i.e., mopping, sweeping, polishing, and vacuuming of floors; windows, walls, ceilings, stairwells, handrails, doorknobs, etc.).
" Cleans and disinfects property such as patient/resident rooms, washrooms, operating rooms, clinical/public areas, classrooms, cafeterias, offices, locker rooms including furniture and equipment such as desks, hospital beds, dialysis machines, appliances, etc. as well as other miscellaneous cleaning to ensure infection control.
" Operates equipment such as buffers, carpet extractors and automatic floor scrubbers to maintain floor care. Cleans, strips, buffs, and waxes all floors.
" Ensures the stockroom is adequately stocked with housekeeping supplies and orders stock as needed.
" Replenishes various washroom supplies such as paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer. Changes Sharps containers, when required. Collects and disposes of garbage, biomedical waste, and recyclable materials such as cardboard.
" Performs other housekeeping tasks such as making beds, dusting, and cleaning of supplies.
" Moves and arranges furniture/equipment.
" Performs emergency clean-up services.
" Pick-up, sorting, and processing of soiled items; plus, the distribution of clean.
" May be required to provide orientation and on-the-job training to new employees.
" Other related duties as required.
" Required to participate in on call schedule.

Salary:
" CG-19 of the NAPE-HS salary scales $20.05 to $21.64 per hour.

" Variable Shifts.
