Clinical Nurse Manager - North Coast

Location: Happy Valley Goose Bay
The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for the direct supervision of all acute primary health care services provided in Hopedale, Makkovik, Nain, Natuashish, Mani Ashini, Postville and Rigolet Community Clinics. The position is responsible for the planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating Nurse Practitioners, Regional Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Personal Care Attendants, Domestic Workers, and Clerks. They are also responsible for the routine administration and management of Community Clinics. The Clinical Nurse Manager reports directly to the Regional Director of Rural & Remote Health.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, with preference given to Baccalaureate degree in nursing or currently enrolled in BN program;
" Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador;
" Five years general nursing experience and a minimum of three years' experience in regional/outpost nursing;
" Two years of leadership or managerial experience preferred;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct;
" Ability to supervise, support and guide Regional Nursing Staff, Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Practical Nurses, Personal Care Attendants, Domestic Workers and Clerks;
" Ability to work independently and exercise considerable judgment and initiative in performing duties;
" Ability to identify problems, outline solutions, and use leadership skills to resolve issues;
" May be required to use personal vehicle for business purposes; Class V driver's license
Duties (Included but not limited to):
" Provides oversight in the recruitment and retention of staff;
" Leads the hiring process of new employees and the annual performance appraisals of all employees under his/her direct supervision;
" Completes monthly departmental reports for the Regional Director;
" Conducts quarterly site visits that audit the clinics quality assurance, documentation of nurses, and completes performance indicators for these visits;
" Monitor and follow up all applicable CSRS and PIERS reports in a timely fashion;
" Organizes work schedules including approval of leave in conjunction with the Regional Nurse II at each clinic;
" Supports and guides staff to ensure clinical competency and theoretical knowledge are current;
" Assists in the development of departmental policy and procedures;
" Enhances communication through regular contact (virtual and face to face communication) with clinic staff, regional staff and management;
" Maintains liaison with other departments, divisions and agencies both internal and external to the organization;
" Travels regularly to the Community Clinics;
" Performs other duties as required.
Salary:
" In accordance with the HAY Management Pay Plan plus the applicable Labrador Allowance, Subject to classification.
Hours of Work:
" 70 hours biweekly; variable shifts (on-call is required).
