Permanent Full-time (Several positions available)

Western Health, situated on the scenic west coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, is seeking the services of full-time equivalent Emergency Room Physicians for Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH) at 1 Brookfield Ave, Corner Brook, NL. A full-time equivalent physician is required to work 12 Emergency Department shifts per month at WMRH. The successful applicant will be expected to provide 8-hour rotational shifts. The Emergency Department for WMRH has approximately 40,000 patient visits per year, has double coverage, specialty back-up, and CT/MRI/Interventional Radiology on call.

WMRH is a 171-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people. We are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and we encourage and support academic interests.

Qualifications Required: A Medical Degree, Eligible for licensure as an Emergency Room Physician with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), CCFP-EM or CCFP certified with Emergency Medicine experience, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified and meet the credentialing requirements of Western Health's Discipline of Emergency Medicine. Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is desirable. Two years related work experience is considered an asset.

Remuneration: In accordance with Medical Care Plan (MCP) guidelines for Category A Emergency Departments. The current sessional, hourly rate is $232.07. An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current Memorandum of Understanding.

Corner Brook and the western region has much to offer, particularly for the outdoor enthusiast. Within minutes from Western Memorial Regional Hospital you have access to a golf course, hiking and biking trails. Nearby you will find areas to salmon fish, kayak, and in winter, skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. In about an hour's drive, you will be on the doorstep of the world-renown Gros Morne National Park.
