Job Summary
Reporting to the Division Manager, Hyperbaric Medicine, the Registered Nurse IIA is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Hyperbaric Medicine Program. The Registered Nurse IIA will coordinate the utilization of human and material resources, assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards of care, facilitate the interdisciplinary team approach to patient care, assist with staff development and perform other specific duties as indicated by the appropriate job description.

The Registered Nurse IIA coordinates Hyperbaric treatments in collaboration with the Hyperbaric Physician and Technical Director; acts as a resource with clinical expertise for the Program and Division; promotes and coordinates an interdisciplinary team approach in the delivery of quality patient care; coordinates patient care in the assigned division such as patient assignment, patient scheduling, etc; participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality initiatives; collaborates with Educators/Division Managers/Staff to coordinate, develop and implement staff orientation, student orientation/placements, and staff continuing education initiatives; maintains schedules and on-call lists for all Hyperbaric staff; works independently in a dynamic and often challenging environment; participates in ongoing education and training of new Hyperbaric staff; and participates in required future training and educational programs required for the position. The Registered Nurse IIA must provide on-call coverage for Hyperbaric emergencies.

Job Demands

Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs., regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to restrain/reposition/move/ lift up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.
Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or confined positions to assist with procedures.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.
Moderate level of sitting when teaching and counselling patients.
May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Current certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT), Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN), or completion of Hyperbaric Medicine training would be an asset.
Current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
Current in BLS is required.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven years in adult acute care nursing is required.
Experience working in Hyperbaric Medicine is required.
Experience working in Critical Care and/or current certification in Critical Care with the Canadian Nurses Association would be an asset.
Strong knowledge of hyperbaric medicine.
Knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts.
Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, teaching and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful working relationships within an interdisciplinary team.
Evidence of active involvement or willingness to participate in continuing professional education development.
Membership in professional organizations/special interest groups is an asset.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
