McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our leadership team at our Potato facility in Portage La Prairie, MB. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the Plant Leadership team.
As the Engineering Manager you will lead, mentor, and coach the maintenance and engineering team to ensure department and production efficiency. Safety is number one for you and your team where you lead by example to ensure that safety is top of mind! You will work in collaboration with production and quality to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly while also minimizing overall production downtime. As the Engineering Manager you will report to the Plant Manager to ensure that KPI's and company goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively foster and promote the safe work habits of employees. Ensure proper safety policies and procedures are followed, actively participate in health and safety initiatives, takes a lead role in safety optimization driving towards zero incidents.
- Ensure that the factory operates at the highest possible efficiency at the lowest cost, by proper selection, installation, maintenance, and modification of all equipment/machinery.
- Direct maintenance of equipment and plant infrastructure to meet production requirements and minimize downtime.
- Assist in developing and execute?capital projects to meet schedules and budgets.
- Lead continuous technical improvement of the facility, equipment, and production systems.
- Manage the maintenance supervisor team and personnel; effectively delegate work assignments and develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities of team members.
- Ensure adherence to safety, food safety, and environmental regulations and practices.
- Proactively support internal and external customers (i.e., Operations, Quality, Safety, Human Resources, etc.).
- Attend required plant training programs per the training schedule. Ensure personnel are properly trained. Develop and deliver selected training programs as required.
- Work closely with the Senior Managers and other Production Supervisors to achieve production goals, maintain quality and KPIs efficiently. Responsible for ensuring the production department meets targets set forth in quality, safety productivity, cost, delivery, morale and environment (QCDSME).
- Demonstrate leadership where our people are empowered through development, coaching and recognition.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 5 years leading teams, mentoring supervisors preferred
- Manufacturing experience (food or beverage an asset)
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Sound fact-based decision making and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering results and resolving day to day operational challenges
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and successfully lead projects/work teams
- Adaptable and flexible team player who is a champion of change
- Skilled in developing and executing strategic site plan
