JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time

SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Is responsible for the following: managing the Facilities Department for all of Zone 1B of Vitalité Health Network, which includes administering operating, maintenance and renovation budgets; managing the facilities maintenance and operations team; facilitating communication between the team members; standardizing operating procedures; and maximizing the performance of the groups reporting to the position. Chairs department meetings and does performance appraisals for the employees reporting directly to the position. In collaboration with the Major Infrastructure Project Manager of Zone 1B, is responsible for planning and managing construction and renovation projects in Zone 1B facilities. Is responsible for reviewing architectural and engineering designs (mechanical, electrical, structural), in addition to technical specifications for various projects. In collaboration with the Space Coordinator and Director of Hospital Activities, participates in managing and assigning rooms. With the collaboration of the Supervisor of Moves, Storage and Furnishings, is responsible for planning and coordinating moves and storage. Finally, is responsible for coordinating the work of internal and external teams with various contractors and department managers while also satisfactorily planning required service interruptions and making contingency plans. Performs any other tasks required to meet facilities' operational needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering degree (civil, mechanical, electrical, building) relevant to facility management and good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) OR college engineering diploma (civil, mechanical, electrical, building) and good standing with the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists OR any combination of training and experience deemed equivalent;
  • Five to seven years' experience in facility management, i.e. in preventive or corrective maintenance and operations, in addition to experience managing renovation and construction projects in a major facility, including progressive experience in a leadership role;
  • Experience in the hospital field considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of how to operate a preventive maintenance system;
  • Proficiency with computers and software;
  • Knowledge of, and ability to operate, AutoCAD software;
  • Knowledge of, and ability to operate, a project management software application considered an asset;
  • Experience estimating construction and renovation projects;
  • Experience managing construction projects;
  • Experience with lock out and tag out procedures;
    Knowledge of Microsoft suite applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Good knowledge of legislation, regulations, codes and standards applying to buildings as well as to employee health and safety. Knowledge of those specifically applying to hospital facilities considered an asset;
  • Strategic thinking abilities and innovation- and collaboration-oriented management style; Strong problem-solving and planning skills;
  • Time management, priority setting and quick response skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Good reference from previous position;
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
