The Chapman Group is assiting their client Larkin Farms in finding a Director of Operations to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's plant and operations to maximize process efficiency and productivity. This includes developing and implementing plans, policies, and procedures to ensure adequate supply as well as maintaining and reporting accurate inventories. In addition, the Director of Operation will manage human resources, physical assets, processes, safety and quality within the plant.
Reports to the owners who are actively involved in business and will interact effectively with other parts of the company and be viewed as a trusted advisor by all. Larkin Farms has a plan to automate in the near future therefore this person will be involved in Project Management.
· Provide leadership in fulfillment of the company's mission, goals, and objectives with assistance of owners
· Coordinate and direct daily operations of the plant; including production schedules and staffing; including:
o Coordinating activities for upcoming week and beyond
o Managing online order system for retail / online orders
o Managing labour costs and employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly
· Provide leadership in product quality, customer service, efficiency, order fulfillment, equipment maintenance, ordering of supplies and all plant related issues
· Oversees HCAAP/ Food Safety plan to ensure standards are being maintained
o As Quality Assurance (QA), Manager is responsible to see that everything is getting done / refer to food safety Manual etc.
o Responsible for traceability
· Manage all employee relations; training, hiring and policy enforcement
· Ensure staff are following GMP's and overall company policy
· Work with CFO on inventory management, production costing and budgeting to ensure targets are being met
· Analyze, evaluate and interpret monthly, quarterly and annual trend data that promotes effective management of priorities, leverages strengths and quickly identifies target areas of opportunity for improvement
· Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication by fostering team building, setting and measuring goals and reporting on organizational performance across the organization
· Suggest solutions for process improvements
· Working knowledge plant regulatory standards, food safety, food quality, etc.
· Post secondary school preferably business degree or MBA
· Previous food manufacturing experience
· Ability to work in an environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential
· Strong understanding of contractual agreements, accurate record keeping and documentation
