This role will be key at breaking down barriers for patient access to life-changing medicines and supporting optimal patient care. The Nurse Resource Partner ensures patients are provided easy access to their prescribed therapy. In addition, this role involves direct interactions with patients, insurance companies, pharmacies, physicians, and other health care professionals (HCPs) in a multidisciplinary environment. Effective coordination and communications play an essential part in servicing patients, physicians and HCP.

How you will make an impact

Work as a partner to physician, nurse and healthcare team supporting patients in a post-prescription manner, including but not limited to:

  • Work with patients and healthcare team once the decision to treat with a biologic medication has been established to prepare the patient for treatment;
  • Liaise with physicians' offices, pharmacies, services providers, and other parties to provide comprehensive and coordinated service to patients and HCPs;
  • Proactively offer support and advocacy to patients and HCP which includes but is not limited to enrollment, facilitation of coverage renewals, as well as facilitating reimbursement support to physicians and patients;
  • Participate in telephone consultations and virtual meetings/training sessions as required;
  • Read and review all Canadian product monographs to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each product being administered;
  • Provide in person and virtual support such as adherence support, both inbound and outbound as needed;
  • Perform clinical nursing tasks such as blood draws and injections;
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and corporate information and discuss only with appropriate personnel;
  • Adhere to BioScript and physician policies and procedures;
  • Adhere to professional nursing standards as prescribed by the professional associations;
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities;
  • Report and document Adverse Events as per training per Pharmacovigilance requirements; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the physician.

What you'll bring to our team

  • Qualified Registered Practical Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with valid and in good standing provincial license;
  • Minimum 2-4 years of clinical experience;
  • CPR and First-Aid certification required;
  • ACLS certificate required;
  • Experience working in the Dermatology therapeutic area is an asset;
  • Bilingual English and French is an asset;
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and experience in Patient Support Programs is a strong asset;
  • Strong computer skills, including being proficient in MS Office suite: Excel, Outlook (Email), Word and EMR (Accuro);
  • Excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, physicians, HCP;
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills;
  • Self-motivated and collaborative;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills: ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently;
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible with patient and HCP requirements; and
  • Passionate at supporting patient care and removing barriers to care.
