Welder

Position Overview

Apex is currently accepting applications for a Welder role. This is a full-time position reporting to the Sheet Metal and Deburring Supervisor. The primary role of this position is to assemble and weld various metal enclosure structures, primarily performing TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel up to aerospace standard. Some weekend work or overtime may be required and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work to be completed as directed by the Supervisor.
• Document work performed in accordance with work travelers.
• Position and clamp fabricated metal components to prepare for welding.
• Weld metal parts together using TIG welding for aluminum and stainless steel.
• Understand welding procedures and how to set up welding machine(s) without supervision.
• Weld to aerospace requirements (training will be provided).
• Perform related tasks such as grinding and finishing.
• Maintain welding supply inventory.
• Maintain work area organization and cleanliness including 5S practices for welding areas.
• Adopt a continuous improvement philosophy for welding areas.
• Safe use of personal protective gear as directed by the safety committee or Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of hand tools (i.e. hammer, saw, drill, tape measure, etc.).
• Ability to work both individually or within a team environment with a positive attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to stick to tasks that may be repetitive in nature.
• Strong attention to detail as to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Become familiar with Customer, AS-9100 procedures.
• Ability to follow verbal or written instructions and work under little or no supervision.
• Strong desire to produce high quality products.
