Reporting to the Manager of Digital & Content Strategy, the Marketing & Communications Officer will work closely with Build Nova Scotia's Marketing & Communications team to execute and support the organization's content strategy, storytelling, brand, and communications.

Responsibilities

Execute Build Nova Scotia's content on all social media channels

Researches, gathers, creates social media content

Captures, edits, and develops digital content (photography, video, and web and social media content)

Execute social media monitoring and facilitate community management strategies

Maintains and updates editorial calendar and tactical, promotional content

Responsible for social media archiving and capture of user-generated content

Conducts interviews with partners and community members for communications content (social, web, annual reports, etc.)

Assists with communications activities for the Internet for Nova Scotia Initiative, including research, writing, and management of public inquiries via email for Build Nova Scotia

Supports development of news releases, public service announcements, and other public communications

Leads content production include capture, editing, development, and asset management

Gathers information and produces content for internal info screens and touchpoints

Work with Marketing & Communications team to plan, promote, and execute events and engagement activities

Coordinate and project manage marketing and communications campaigns and projects

Proof and edit print and online communications materials

Manage and update web content on Build Nova Scotia's corporate site and microsites.

Assist with media monitoring and contributes to monthly media and social media reports and summaries.

Work with Marketing & Communications to improve processes and procedures as they relate to the growth of the organization.

Other duties and tasks as assigned within the Marketing & Communications team or other areas of the organization.

Qualifications

Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Radio & Television Arts, or Digital Media (or a related degree or post-secondary diploma) plus 1-3 years of related experience (including Co-op program experience)

Social media experience

Demonstrated skill in technical and digital environments

Strong and creative writing skills and editing experience

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Proven client service experience and skills

Demonstrated team player and collaborative style

Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision

Demonstrated proactive self-starter, ability to identify process-improvement opportunities

Exceptional attention to detail and proven organizational skills

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines

Critical thinking along with strong problem-solving skills

Outstanding computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel with the ability to learn new software quickly

Familiarity with Apple equipment and operating systems required

Demonstrated skill in technical, digital, and creative writing

Working knowledge of photo-editing software (PhotoShop, Lightroom, etc.)

Discretion is essential to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive business matters

A driven, perpetually solution-based attitude

The following will be considered assets:

· Photography and/or video experience (capture and editing)

· Advertising copywriting experience

· Drone operation

· Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere and InDesign
