Who we are

We invite you to join the Larry's Gulch team! We have the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful places that New Brunswick has to offer while providing meaningful and challenging work. Imagine being able to experience the beauty of the world-class Restigouche River every day!

What you will do

As a member of the Larry's Gulch team, the successful candidate will be an Ambassador for Parks NB. You will be responsible for:

• Preparing pit rotation schedules for both regular and low water conditions in collaboration with the manager
• Directing and transporting clients to the pools in a safe manner
• Providing an enriching experience to clients in both official languages
• Ensuring complete confidentiality of discussions between clients during fishing trips
• Assisting clients with their fishing equipment and offering advice on fly fishing techniques
• Assisting clients in catching a salmon by fishing for them if requested
• Cleaning canoes and shoreline regularly
• Keeping the guide camp and fishing equipment clean and tidy
• Performing general maintenance at the Lodge
• Performing other related duties as required

Work Environment

• Hours of work are 7:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day, with a break from Friday at 12 p.m. until Saturday at 5:15 p.m.
• 60 hours per week

Who you are

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Atlantic salmon fly fisherman
• Experience as an Atlantic salmon fishing guide
• Experience operating a motorized canoe on the Restigouche River
• Possession of a valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certificate
• NB Professional Guide License 1
• NB Pleasure Craft Operator License
• NB Salmon Fishing License
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
• Spoken competence in English and French is required

Note: Guides must provide the canoe (minimum 26 feet), motor, life jackets, seats, oars and safety equipment as required by Transport Canada regulations.

Wage

$2,201.00 bi-weekly
