This posting is for the position of Director of Schools for the Anglophone East School District. This position will be based out of the Office of the Superintendent providing support up to three families of schools (Elementary and Middle Years- K to 8) and supporting Early Years Education.

Description: The Director of Schools is an important member of the Senior Leadership Team and reporting directly to the Superintendent/CEO. The Director of Schools is responsible to provide leadership, supervision, and support to school Principals, staff, and within areas of assigned responsibility in the delivery of high-quality educational programming for all students.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing direction on the many aspects of educational leadership, school improvement planning, teacher and administrator professional development, effective professional learning communities among teachers and administrators, policy implementation, and support during crisis response.

Provide expertise and advice, as well as participate in the resolution of concerns related to employees, parents, and students.

The Director of Schools plays an important role in the delivery of the Leadership Development Program and supports Superintendent/CEO in the hiring and renewal of School Administrators.

Collaborates with all members of the Senior Leadership Team and departments for top quality delivery support to schools.

Represents the School District and/or the Superintendent/CEO on local and provincial committees.


  • This position requires a Master of Education degree (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in teaching and progressive leadership roles.
  • Experience as a school principal. 
  • Written, reading, and spoken competence in English is essential. 
  • The ability to communicate in French would be considered and asset.
