Collaborating with the Director of Finance or their designate, the incumbent will participate in operational planning, development of annual budgets and provide sound financial advice to the senior leadership and management of Domestic Recovery Services.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the daily operational of the Recovery Services finance team and is required to interface with operational managers and senior leadership as well as external clients and grantees. They will support the development, maintenance, documentation and implementation of efficient and effective financial processes, policies, systems and tools.
In this role, you will:
  • Communicate and collaborate with Program Leadership and Managers to ensure resources are sufficient to meet required SLAs as well as taking advantage of any funding available for resources.
  • Provide training, development and/or deployment opportunities to finance staff as part of engagement strategy.
  • Participate in operational planning, development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasting.
  • Work closely with management and senior management of Recovery Services Program, providing financial analysis to support recommendations during the program/grant/project lifecycle including budget development, variance analysis and expenditure projections referring to an established common approach and principles.
  • Ensure development and timely dissemination of financial reports and analysis to Program Senior Management and other Stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare annual financial and statistical reports to aid in the preparation of the Society's consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes, and other external requirements such as the T3010 information return.
  • Validate and reconcile all related financial information for external partners and audits.
  • Ensure timely financial reviews of grant applications and documents; grant recipient reports and financial back up documentation and grant contract changes and /or extensions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and/or annual financial analysis and reviews of Recovery Services' projects/programming's operational performance, trends and forecasts to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Develop and/or maintain as well as report on and explain financial KPI's on Recovery Services' projects/programming.
  • Maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with Legal; Emergency Management Finance; Recovery Services; Mental Health and Psyco-Social Support and Indigenous Programming.

What we are looking for:
  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field and completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum of 7 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven supervisory/management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential and French is considered a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated computer skills of MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel (Advanced) and PowerPoint.
  • Superior organization and time management skills and ability to problem solve, and think outside the box.
  • Experience with AX Dynamics accounts receivable module or similar accounting software.
