(Administrative Services - Level 3)



The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Housing Team as an Administrative Support in the Lamèque office of the Northern Zone.

As an Administrative Support, the successful candidates will be responsible to provide a variety of administrative support services to the general public and all levels of staff within the office. Responsibilities include providing general information, responding to a wide range of routine and complex telephone inquiries and/or walk-in clients, evaluating inquiries, and directing clients and/or the general public to the appropriate employee or resource. Work will also include filing, photocopying, handling of incoming and outgoing mail, receiving payments, performing data entry, preparation of legal and other correspondence, word processing, and maintaining a supplies inventory. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Other duties may be assigned as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED supplemented by successful completion of a one (1) year post-secondary diploma in Secretarial or Office Administration or other completed post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years related administrative work experience. OR High School Diploma supplemented by completion of at least a two (2) year related post-secondary program and a minimum of two (2) years related administrative work experience. OR High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years related administrative work experience.

Written and Spoken competence in French is required for this position. Written and spoken competence in English AND French is required for some vacancies while other vacancies require written and spoken competence in English OR French. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience working with confidential information.
