The Department of Justice and Public Safety wishes to establish an inventory of qualified candidates to fill casual Court Stenographer vacancies in various Court Services regions across the province.

What you will do

As a member of the Court Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide a variety of court related services. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Attending court and recording evidence;
  • Transcribing of evidence from recorded compact discs;
  • Entering computer data;
  • Preparing legal documents;
  • Receptionist duties;
  • Client service;
  • Providing support to the judiciary;
  • And any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work environment

  • Office location: Court Services Offices
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Résumés should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment.

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Successful completion of one (1) year post-secondary education in office administration or a related field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years related administrative and/or legal work experience.

Shorthand is not required.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

The ability to transcribe from recorded compact discs is also required. As such, you will be required to undergo the Department's court transcription test in English and/or French.

Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English only. Please state your language capability.

Wage

$1,725.35 - $2,060.22 Biweekly
