The Province of New Brunswick would like to establish an inventory of qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies for Communications Directors and Managers within government departments.

The Executive Council Office, Corporate Communications Division is looking for experienced, highly motivated and energetic communications professionals who can lead, write, plan and think in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will be well-rounded communications professionals with a proven ability to manage projects from start to end. They will be responsible for working closely with senior management and staff with both Corporate Communications and their assigned department. They are responsible for overseeing all the communications activities for a government department and serving as principal communications advisor to a minister.

They are tasked with effectively and efficiently explaining and promoting the programs and policies of their department to the people of New Brunswick. They are ultimately responsible for coordinating with the central support team in the areas of media relations, writing services, stakeholder relations and marketing activities within their department.

This fast-paced position requires outstanding critical and strategic thinking skills and excellence in communications. Your proven abilities as a communications leader and strong interpersonal skills allow you to establish effective working relations with team members and departmental clients while your experience and dedication allow you to develop and deliver communications programs and services that are both innovative and effective.

In this position you'll build on your already strong and well-rounded background in communications planning, issues management, media relations, events planning, project management and communications consulting.

Specific duties include researching, writing and implementing communication strategies; developing and writing communications and promotional materials, supervising creative and production services, managing media relations, and providing strategic consulting and advice.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Director: Candidates must have a university degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with a minimum of seven years related work experience or a two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with nine years related work experience. Manager: Candidates must have a university degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with a minimum of five years related work experience or a two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with seven years related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English or in French only. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience working in a communications function in a government environment.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

The following operational requirement(s) is also required (e.g. working on weekends; travel; shift work, and/or; variable hours).

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies: Excellent multitasking and time-management skills, Planning and Organizing Skills, Ability to use office technology, software and applications.

Salary: Director: Pay Band 6, $2,577 to $3,428 bi-weekly
Manager: Pay Band 5, $2,218 to $3,097 bi-weekly
