Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do?

Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Facilities Management Unit, the Manager of Regional Operations will be responsible for leading a team in the coordination of activities related to the operation and maintenance of all provincially owned buildings and facilities in the Fredericton region. Main responsibilities include:

  • developing a capital projects list to identify infrastructure needs and manage capital assets; 
  • identifying opportunities to meet risk management initiatives;
  • assisting in managing energy consumption and reducing operating costs in government owned buildings;
  • identifying and solving health and safety issues in government buildings;
  • managing investigations and identifying and resolving maintenance, aesthetic concerns and code compliance issues at provincially owned buildings;
  • issuing maintenance service contracts and maintaining a proactive approach with contractors;
  • requisitioning equipment, products and materials for use in government owned buildings as required; assist in establishing budgets for renovation projects;
  • carrying out duties associated with the administration of construction contracts;
  • managing budgets for assigned capital and ordinary funding;
  • managing and monitoring work plan items; project management; human resources planning; and recruitment of staff.

  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Essential qualifications:

  • A University degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in facilities management OR a two (2) year technical program in a related field and seven (7) years' experience in facilities management OR a one (1) year technical program in a related field and ten (10) years' experience in facilities management experience.
  • Experience must include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. 
  • A valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick

Asset Qualifications:

  • Possession of a class IV Stationary Engineer License;
  • Experience with architectural, mechanical and/or electrical systems;
  • Familiarity with building codes; property management experience; knowledge of the Crown Construction Contracts Act, National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code or Public Purchasing Act.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

SALARY: $2,207.00 to $3,082.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
