The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is seeking an individual to join the Animal Health Services Branch as a Veterinarian, in Bathurst.

As a member of the Animal Health Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing veterinary diagnostic, medical, surgical and regulatory services. Responsibilities include the following: providing emergency services on a rotational basis including working extended hours, evenings and weekends as required; completing on-farm calls for the livestock (large and small ruminants, swine, and fur bearing animals etc.) and equine sectors in New Brunswick. Duties will also include, but are not limited to, herd health management, diagnostic services, providing pharmaceutical prescriptions, advising clients on animal health issues, maintaining medical records, and billing for services rendered. This position will also require a high level of communication and interaction with industry, government, private Veterinarians and other stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from a recognized School of Veterinary Medicine and be eligible for registration with the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association; and less than two years of related experience for the Veterinarian 1 or a minimum of two years of related experience for the Veterinarian 2.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must be prepared to: work on a rotational basis to provide emergency services; work extended hours, evenings and weekends, on occasion during emergencies; carry out physically demanding tasks; work in a farm environment which may include working in unfavorable conditions and working outside in inclement weather; work in a laboratory setting; possess a valid class 5 driver licence as issued by the Province of New Brunswick. The successful candidate must successfully complete a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) reference check, as requested.

SALARY:

Veterinarian 1: $58,452 to $74,416 per annum
Veterinarian 2: $65,087 to $89,088 per annum
