DST Consulting Engineers, a Division of Englobe is on an exciting growth path and we are currently seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our talented team in our Ottawa, Ontario location.
Your Contribution
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules;
  • Actively market ourproducts and services to new and existing clients through business development initiatives;
  • Perform site reviews, gather data and prepare reports under the direction of the lead project engineer;
  • Perform analysis and design of structural elements of a variety of materials including concrete, steel, masonry, light-gage metal, wood and pre-cast using the latest and applicable building and design codes/standards;
  • Manage and/or generate deliverable documentation (ie. drawings and specifications) for structural projects which requires accuracy in calculations and/or completeness of data;
  • Provide design sketch and coordinate work with draftspersons and other engineering departments during the proposal and design development stage;
  • Conduct technical peer reviews of structural reports;
  • Review engineering designs and drawings from junior team members; and
  • Regularly review shop drawings and develop design solutions and modifications when warranted by site conditions.

Your Profile
  • Member of PEO or be eligible for P.Eng. registration with PEO immediately;
  • University Degree with a concentration in Structural Engineering;
  • 5 years of experience in structural design for buildings or infrastructure (New Build, and Rehabilitation) post-graduation;
  • Design experience including knowledge of all relevant codes and regulatory requirements;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce well- written reports and technical specifications;
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to complex topics and concepts, working independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently problem-solve, tackle new assignments and multi-task in a busy work environment;
  • Previous consulting experience is an asset;
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain Security Clearance;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if required;
  • Available to travel in remote areas and on short notice for extended period of time; and
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
