Lead, SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is the largest Centre for Education in Atlantic Canada with approximately 11,000 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Serving 53,000 students in 135 schools, our geographic region spans a 350 km radius.

HRCE is currently seeking candidates for the following permanent position:

Lead, SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development

The SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development Lead with the Halifax Regional Centre for Education will be responsible for providing direction, supervision, leadership, support and oversight to SchoolsPlus Child and Youth Care Practitioners (CYCPs). The SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development Lead will ensure the implementation of the comprehensive wrap around services for students and families within the region focusing on preventative and responsive programs and services. The SchoolsPlus ParaProfessional Development Lead will identify, coordinate and address the professional learning needs of CYCPs and Community Outreach Workers across the region. Consistent with the Department of Education and Halifax Regional Centre for Education policies, the SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development Lead will work within an established framework to support CYCPs in facilitating a wide range of comprehensive and effective interventions and supports for students and families. Working collaboratively in a team environment, the SchoolsPlus Para-Professional Development Lead will demonstrate a strong commitment to the school improvement process in support of student learning and reports directly to the Coordinator, SchoolsPlus.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work degree;
  • Minimum five (5) years experience related to providing programming and services for students in need;
  • Career experience in providing integrated programming and services to children, youth and families, and related community networking;
  • Leadership experience in the planning and delivery of programs and/or services;
  • Demonstrated experience in direct supervision of employees.

Start Date: September 20, 2021

Salary: This is a PEG (Professional Employees Group) position with an annual salary on the NCR 7 scale ranging from $71,367.32 to $93,670.18. Professional Employees Group (PEG) Terms and Conditions of Employment apply.
