The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is looking to build an inventory of qualified individuals seeking to join the Internal Audit Branch of the Performance and Continuous Improvement Division in a temporary or permanent capacity.
What you will do
The successful candidate will be responsible to provide assurance and, when appropriate, recommendations for improvement, in relation to the management of programs and resources within the Education and Early Childhood sectors in New Brunswick. The successful candidate will be responsible to support and/or lead a variety of projects in governance, compliance, financial management, special investigations, risk assessment and management; manage, coordinate, conduct and consult on various examinations; summarize findings and conclusions in reports and develop workable solutions or recommendations; establish and maintain positive and professional relations with stakeholders and clients; offer advice and consultation to clients on the use and evaluation of risk management and control strategies; and ensure files are maintained, with sufficient and appropriate documentation and analysis to support the examination findings, recommendations and assessment. He/she will continually monitor, evaluate and develop action plans for areas needed for improvement, especially regarding human and financial resources. Change management strategies will form an integral part of such initiatives.
- Work location: primarily at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's office, 250 King Street, Fredericton. Travels to school districts, schools or early learning facilities may be required depending on the nature of the audits;
- Individual offices (cubicles) and comfortable rooms for meeting and brainstorming sessions;
- Opportunity to work remotely depending on requirements, deadlines, etc.;
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30; and

Need to have:
Pay Band 3: A bachelor's degree with two (2) years of related work experience in the field of accounting, auditing or risk management; OR a master's degree with one (1) year of related work experience in the field of accounting, auditing or risk management.
Pay Band 4: A bachelor's Degree with four (4) years of related work experience in the field of accounting, auditing or risk management; OR a master's degree with three (3) years of related work experience in the field of accounting, auditing or risk management.
Pay Band 5: A bachelor's degree with five (5) years of related work experience in the field of accounting, auditing or risk management; OR a master's degree with four (4) years of related work experience in accounting, auditing or risk management. Proof of completion of an accredited program leading to a Professional Accounting or Auditing Designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA, CIA, CISA) is required.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered (for pay band 3 and 4).
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Technical competencies: The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:
- Knowledge of Accounting and Financial Principals;
- Knowledge of Auditing;
- Knowledge of Risk Management; and
- Written and Oral Communication in English and French.
Nice to Have:
- Proof of enrolment in or completion of an accredited program leading to a Professional Accounting or Auditing Designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA, CIA, CISA) or completion of such a program (For PB3/PB4 classifications);
- Experience in Project management;
- Internal audit experience;
- Experience with data analytics;
- Knowledge of Oracle Financials; and
- Commitment and ability to learn.

The following operational requirement(s) may also apply:
- travel in New Brunswick.

Pay Band 3: $45, 656 - $63, 778 per annum
Pay Band 4: $50, 128 - $70, 070 per annum
Pay Band 5: $57, 382 - $80, 132 per annum
