What you will do

The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Regional Emergency Management Coordinator (REMC) for it's Emergency Measures Organization (EMO). Reporting to the Area Manager, the REMC is responsible for co-ordination of regional emergency planning and for directing regional operations during emergencies in order to mitigate the consequences of a disaster.

The successful candidate will liaise with representatives of municipalities, government departments and provincial / federal agencies; develop and implement regional emergency plans; provide assistance, direction and advice to municipalities; coordinate and oversee emergency preparedness training locally and regionally; provide subject matter expertise; observe and provide consistent feedback / mentorship to internal and/or external stakeholders during the response and recovery operation of an emergency, emergency training, simulations and exercise; prepare and coordinate emergency preparedness; develop and implement policies and procedures to attain, manage and direct the services of volunteers and external emergency personnel during an emergency.

Work environment; Campbellton

  • Office location: 113 Roseberry St, suite 403, Campbellton NB, E3N-2G6
  • Office layout: individual private office co-located with the Regional Emergency Operation Centre.
  • Your Team: large team (8-10 pers) with the capacity to increase during emergency operations 
  • Flexible work environment, combining office and remote functions; individual is required to patrol and circulate regularly throughout their region of responsibility. 
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30, however individual is expected to be available 24/7 in emergency situations.
  • We promote a scent-reduced environment.

Work environment; St George

  • Office location: 40 Brunswick St, St George NB, E5C-1A9
  • Office layout: individual private office co-located with the Regional Emergency Operation Centre. 
  • Your Team: large team (8-10 pes) with the capacity to increase during emergency operations
  • Flexible work environment, combining office and remote functions; individual is required to patrol
  • and circulate regularly throughout their region of responsibility. 
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30, however individual is expected to be available 24/7 in emergency situations.

Need to have

  • University Degree in an applicable field with 4 years' experience in planning, leading organizations in the field of Emergency Management or 2 years of post-secondary education with 6 years of planning, leading organizations in the field of Emergency Management. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for one position (Campbellton); Written and spoken competence in English is required for the other position. Please state your language capability.

Nice to Have

  • Training and/or experience at a senior level in emergency response in areas of policing, firefighting, delivery of ambulance services, Red Cross, health emergency management or the military.

The following operational requirements are also required: travel within the Province and a possession of a valid driver's license. As a condition of employment, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a security clearance at the level of SECRET, in accordance with the Government of New Brunswick policy.

Wage

Pay Band 4: $1,899-$2,656 bi-weekly ($49,374 to $69,056 annually) depending on education and experience.
