The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is seeking an individual to join the Livestock Sector-Development Branch as a Regional Livestock Officer, in Grand Falls.

As a member of the Livestock Sector Development team and reporting to the Section Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: working directly with producers and other regional public/private stakeholders in order to foster development, competitiveness and sustainability of livestock businesses; providing livestock production technical advisory services and delivering financial programs; participating as a member of sector teams involved in the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives in the areas of livestock research and innovation, technology, business development; and other related duties as required.


Agriculturist 1: A Bachelor of Science degree with specialization in Agriculture or a closely related field.

Agriculturist 2: A Bachelor of Science degree with specialization in Agriculture or a closely related field and a minimum of five (5) years of work experience related to livestock production.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

The successful candidate must be eligible for membership in the New Brunswick Institute of Agrologists and membership must be attained within six (6) months of appointment.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following: experience in livestock production practices and technology transfer; experience working with producers and producer groups. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

  • Planning and organizing skills.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be prepared to: travel within the regional area as required; travel to other areas of New Brunswick on occasion; possess a valid Class 5 driver licence as issued by the Province of New Brunswick, or equivalent.


Agriculturist 1: $46,194 to $63,229 per annum

Agriculturist 2: $55,669 to $70,872 per annum
