The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to join the Finance and Services Branch as a Budget and Accounting Manager working in the Fredericton.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance & Services Branch, the successful candidate will oversee the accounting function of the department. The work involves the supervision of the Budget and Accounting Team, the management of trust funds, year-end accounting and Public Accounts documentation. Responsibilities will also include the preparation of financial documentation for First Nations and the coordination of interdepartmental financial requests. The management of internal financial controls along with strong financial analysis capabilities are also key competencies associated with this position.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: University degree at the undergraduate or graduate level preferably a Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in finance and administration including some supervisory experience are required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. 

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate 

  • Use of Oracle and Excel,
  • Experience in GNB, 
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).

  • knowledge of accounting and financial principles,

Salary: $56,524 to $78,962 Annual
