The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking individuals to join the Vehicle Management Agency as mechanics working at various locations across the Province.

The Vehicle Management Agency operates 28 repair facilities across the Province. Our mechanics work on light fleet vehicles, school buses, plow trucks, and heavy equipment. This work is vital to keep the Province's fleet safely on the road. We are looking to staff all our regular vacant positions, and a list of qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff similar positions in the future.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some positions require the possession of Journeyperson's certificates in both the Automotive Service Technician (AST) and the Truck and Transport (T&T) trades as issued by the Province of New Brunswick. If you possess one of the certificates, you may qualify as an apprentice for a position requiring both certificates. The Department will enter into an apprenticeship agreement with you to obtain your second certificate.
  • Some positions require the possession of a Journeyperson's certificate in either the Automotive Service Technician (AST) or the Truck and Transport (T&T) trades as issued by the Province of New Brunswick. 
  • If you have completed at least Block 1 in either the Automotive Service Technician (AST) or the Truck and Transport (T&T) trades, you could qualify as an apprentice. The Department will enter into an apprenticeship agreement with you to obtain your certificate. 

A valid New Brunswick class 5 driver's license is also required.

Please attach a copy of your certificate(s) or of successful completion of at least your Block 1 with your application.

Depending on the location applied for, written and spoken competence in English and/or French may be required. Please state your preferred locations and your language capability.

District 6: Andover, Edmundston, St. André

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.

The following operation requirements are also required: working on weekends and variable hours, including overtime.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: The successful candidate will possess the following behavioural competencies: Analytical Thinking/Judgment, Concern for Order, Results Orientation and Self Control/Stamina.

SALARY:

Journeyperson's Certificates in AST and T&T: $25.24 hourly
Journeyperson's Certificate in AST or T&T: $24.22 hourly
Apprentice First Year in AST or T&T: $20.59 hourly
Apprentice Second Year in AST or T&T: $21.80 hourly
Apprentice Third Year in AST or T&T: $23.01 hourly
Apprentice Fourth Year in AST or T&T: $24.22 hourly

NOTE: Progression from one year to another in the apprenticeship program is contingent on satisfactory progress and completion of a division as determined by examination provided under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act of the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
